English Week: Celebrating Language & Literature

The English Department held 'English Week' this month and organised a variety of events which celebrated Language and Literature. Students were able to perform their work, present it in class as well as outdoors! A limerick competition was held at school with more than 55 entries and some very successful poems were written! The week culminated with students and English teachers dressed up as their favourite literary characters! Finally, on Friday the 19th of April the English Department hosted a Creative Writing Evening, organised by Mrs Drousiotou, and our Performance Poetry Competition took place where eleven KS3 pupils were selected out of 300 Key Stage 3 entries. This rigorous selection process took two months and countless hours of rehearsals.

In addition, the winning entries were read out on the evening from our Mini Saga Prose Competition, organised by Mrs Kostopoulou. The pupils, who were introduced by our wonderful Y10 presenters Stephanos Artemis and Daphne Liapis, performed their poetry before a panel of judges, who deliberated on the evening to issue out the awards. We are extremely thankful to our judges: Mrs Nedi Antoniades, Mr Stavros Stavrou and Mrs Kallitsi!
